We have 9 greenhouses on our family farm where we raise ferns, geraniums, bedding plants and vegetable starters during the cold months, in preparation to sell each spring. It’s a wonderful environment to work in during the cold of winter, when we don’t have produce crops growing in the fields. We open our greenhouses to the public each April and sell flowers/plants until the greenhouses are emptied – usually late June. At that point, we clean out the greenhouses and start the growing cycle again. We only sell annuals – no perennials, bulbs, hellebores, shrubs or trees – if that is what you are looking for, we can refer you to several local growers who specialize in those. At Smith Farms, we specialize in ferns, geraniums and bedding plants. We grow our own produce from seed to plant on our farm, so we also grow and sell those same plants to other farmers and backyard gardeners.
We’ve installed a new outdoor shopping area covered by a shade cloth which makes it very easy to navigate and see a sample of all the different bedding plants we offer. Our staff are very knowledgeable about plant names and needs and can help you plan your planting projects.
